Finally, after so many false starts in Melbourne- hello Saturday where it started off cool and I finally thought I could wear my Zara wool jacket with leather panels – today, the Melbourne weather seemed to have finally gotten the memo. Yes, it’s Autumn, yet, we had warm weather over the weekend and the whole of this week! Yesterday was the bomb, seeing me turn on the air-conditioning at home, which is unheard of in Autumn. Oh well, maybe in Melbourne?
So like every other Melbournian who jumps at the chance to change our dressing to suit the climate, to say I was super excited to get to wear my boots AND the jacket is such an understatement! Seems like such a mundane and superficial thing to get excited over but I was getting sick of damp under-arms and melting make-up with shiny skin on my face. Not fun.
Today, complete with black opaque tights, my soft flat heeled boots and houndstooth dress from ASOS, I finally got to dress up like it’s really Autumn. Welcome cold and goodbye hot!

Ring: Diva (bought a few years ago at a sale)
I’m not usually a fan of the houndstooth print. In fact, I loathe it until I bought that top from Target which sported the houndstooth print but in a more abstract sense. This one is slightly bolder – large prints placed sporadically. And yes, while it does remind me of the David Jones logo, I didn’t mind this one as it does give sort of that “punk” vibe. Or maybe punk isn’t the right word, but alternative? Oh I don’t know. Something? Well, whatever it is, I do like it.
It features a sweetheart neckline and the back is elasticised to give you a nice shape, but because it’s slightly big on me (I suspect I’ve lost some weight?) I wore it with a stretchable waist belt, cinched at the waist to give the overall look more definition. Yes, it was super windy when I had this photos snapped.
So far I’ve only worn this dress with my flat boots but I bet it’ll look just as good when worn with my higher heeled boots, and even my new pair of red Mary Janes! Can’t wait to share those in a post with you. Soon my lovelies!
